BERNE, Indiana — A peaceful rural road turned into a scene of chaos late Sunday night when a Jeep collided with a horse-drawn Amish buggy on State Road 218, injuring several people — most of them children. Authorities confirmed that the buggy, carrying nine occupants, was struck from behind by a Jeep driven by 33-year-old Bradley J. Ocilka of Burlington, Kentucky. Seven passengers were injured, including six juveniles. The buggy’s driver, 32-year-old Ruben L.M. Schwartz, was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, while five others were taken by ambulance to Parkview Hospital. Two passengers — including a 2-year-old — declined treatment at the scene.
